Metis and Installio Partner to Deliver the Energy Transition Through Local Supply Chains

Partnership combines funded infrastructure with local delivery to accelerate clean energy deployment and support good growth across the UK

Funded nationally. Delivered locally. Creating good growth through the energy transition.

GLASGOW, 14 OCTOBER 2026: Metis has announced a strategic partnership with Installio to accelerate the rollout of solar, battery storage and other low-carbon technologies across the UK through a model that combines national scale with local delivery.

The partnership brings together Metis' funded infrastructure platform and Installio's technology-enabled network of local installation businesses, creating a delivery model designed to support local authorities, housing providers and communities seeking to accelerate decarbonisation while creating lasting economic value.

The announcement comes as politicians, local leaders and industry figures increasingly focus on delivering the energy transition in a way that supports good growth, creates skilled jobs and strengthens local economies.

Metis believes the future of the energy transition is not simply about installing more low-carbon technology. It is about ensuring the investment reaches communities, develops local capability and leaves a lasting legacy in the places where it is deployed.

Through this partnership, Metis will provide access to funding, programme governance and long-term infrastructure stewardship, while Installio will mobilise and coordinate trusted local delivery partners through its national platform.

The result is a scalable approach capable of delivering substantial investment into homes and communities while supporting regional businesses, local employment and supply chain growth.

Tom Woolley, Director Low Carbon Residential (Metis) said:

“The recent debate across the energy sector has rightly focused on how we deliver the energy transition in a way that supports good growth.

The challenge is not simply funding decarbonisation. It is ensuring communities see the economic benefits as well.

Our partnership with Installio is designed to do exactly that.

SMS, with its Metis product brings the funding, programme structure and infrastructure platform. Installio brings a national delivery capability built around local installation businesses.

Together we are creating a model that can fund and deliver the energy transition through local supply chains, creating jobs, developing skills and helping communities participate directly in the net-zero economy.”

Installio has established a strong reputation as a technology-enabled clean energy delivery partner, combining programme governance, operational visibility and quality assurance with a growing network of installation partners across the UK. The company supports the deployment of solar PV, battery storage, heat pumps and EV charging infrastructure through a model designed to maintain consistency, compliance and customer experience at scale.

Michael May, CEO of Installio, said:

“The energy transition will only succeed if it can be delivered at scale while maintaining quality and supporting local economic growth.

Our platform was built to connect national programmes with local delivery capability.

By partnering with Metis, we are combining innovative funding and programme delivery with the expertise of local installation businesses, helping more communities benefit from investment in low-carbon infrastructure.”

The partnership is expected to support delivery across a range of markets including local authorities, social housing providers and wider residential decarbonisation programmes.

By combining funded infrastructure with local delivery capability, Metis and Installio aim to create a model that can accelerate deployment while ensuring investment supports businesses and communities across the country.

As the UK's focus shifts towards place-based delivery, regional growth and devolved decision making, both organisations believe the future of clean energy deployment will depend on strong local partnerships supported by scalable national platforms.

Put simply: national ambition requires local delivery.

Together, Metis and Installio believe the energy transition can become a catalyst not only for decarbonisation, but for economic growth, skills development and stronger communities.
